UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE FUND TO RESUME COVID-19 TERS PAYMENTS EARLY NEXT WEEK

It is all systems go for the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) to resume its eagerly awaited Covid-19 TERS Benefits payments – a campaign that has put hard cash in the hands of workers to shield them from the worst effects of lockdown as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Eastern Cape Education MEC, Fundile Gade has learnt with shock that 98 Ethembeni high school learners have tested positive with the Covid 19 while they are currently busy with their Trial examinations

Due to this massive outbreak, learners coming from both Burgersdorp and Middleburg have been affected. A multi departmental team consisting of the local municipality, departments of Health (DoH) and Public Works (DPW) and Education have been established to manage the spread of this outbreak and advise on measures suitable for learners especially those writing their Trial examinations.
